Queensland facility expanded to meet demand

Alltruck Bodies has extended its Queensland footprint with a new facility double the size of its forerunner to meet growing demand for reliable and efficient road transport equipment.

According to Managing Director, Tony Romano, the business will cater for an increased demand from the Sunshine State’s transport industry. Alltruck Bodies moved into this brand new, state-of-the-art facility in February 2020 from Archerfield, sporting a new Brisbane address: 78 MacGregor Place, Richlands.

Tony partly attributes the industry growth to a tax write-off scheme on capital equipment issued by the Federal Government, which has also been the impetus for this new facility.

“The Richland facility is situated in a new growth area where there are a number of truck dealerships and transport companies consolidating their presence here,” Tony says.

The site is approximately 10,000 square metres in total, comprising spray booths, a fabrication area and a sheeting and completion of trucks area. It includes a new building office complex of about 4,300 square metres as well as a large storage area for client cab chassis’.  Tony notes this allows for room for growth.

“We have 22 staff members and the team is growing,” Tony says. “We are always on the lookout for new personnel wanting to start a career with us. We will also be performing repairs and supplying parts out of this Richlands facility.”

In addition to the above services, Alltruck Bodies manufactures rigid bodies and pig and dog trailers in their Melbourne facility which the Brisbane facility can leverage to supply their local clients.

“Tony Holland, Manager of the Richlands site, along with our staff, have a very good relationship with all Brisbane dealers and work diligently to meet all of their demands.”

A history in quality

Since its inception in Dandenong, Melbourne, in 1991,  the Alltruck Bodies business has come a long way, providing Australian transport operators with a broad portfolio of rigid bodies customised to specific applications.

For example, GRATERgate provides transport operators with an easy gate system, emphasising the load rating capabilities of the product. Like its name sake, it enables a greater-rated gate system, that doesn’t require lifting or sliding of gates when loading off pallets. This is particularly handy for smaller trucks doing several deliveries in a day, giving them a fast and efficient option that improves safety for the driver.

The Rapid Liner Heavy Duty (HD) is another example of innovation from Alltruck. Essentially a rigid curtainsider, this is optimised for loading and unloading pallets of beverage, with a specialised curtain concertina that prevents them catching on the load inside. This is ideal for palletised transportation and heavy loads as it features robust construction such as solid sliding posts, low friction bearings and folding curtain plates, ranging from 3.6 to 10 metres in length.

Moreover, Alltruck Bodies designs and manufactures pig and dog trailers – a popular investment, known for their versatility.

What’s important for most client’s is Alltruck’s ability to combine innovation with customisation. In 2021, Cameron’s – a transport and logistics company – took delivery of a 12-pallet rigid body vehicle from Alltruck Bodies. It was tailored for operator safety and to optimally service customers in the Brisbane and Gold Coast region.

Cameron’s National Fleet Manager, Greg Morris, says the vehicle has already come in handy with clients who have had height limitations.

“The body has been purpose built with a low height (max. height 3.4m),” Greg says. “So we are able to service a number of customers with height access limitations. It works out of the company’s depot in Yatala, Queensland, and has been in operation since late July. ”

Alltruck Bodies is a proud supplier to Cameron’s and other transport providers, with a commitment to quality product, service and innovation.

Fast Fact: Alltruck Bodies manufactures a wide range of rigid bodies such as fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) vans, curtainsiders, Colorbond vans, tray, insulated, freezer and light-weight bodies as well as pig and dog trailers. The company has a comprehensive range of spare parts in stock and is experienced in insurance work and accident repairs.
